A scout is manly...and never more manly than in a kilt and throwing big rocks, heavy weights and telephone poles. Cooking outside is also manly, in a major way...
There is also being gentlemanly, which is a bit different from being manly.
However, I am proud to say our scouts are chivalrous, courteous and thoughtful--gentlemen in every sense of the word. Throughout the weekend, I was impressed many times by their helpfulness, politeness, and concern for others.
But I digress.
Manliness warning!! Today's topic: many manly manifestations of manhood at the Highland Games!
Cooking outdoors...
Playing catch with a rock...
Does this kilt make my rear look big?
Catapult, otherwise known as a Trebuchet or, as I like to call it, big machine that hurls rocks...
Extremely manly machine.
Manly Rock Throwing
Heaving the weight
Tossing telephone poles? Manly indeed!
(the Scottish term for these "telephone poles" is "cabers")
Hammer flying through the air...after one of our guys threw a record-breaking toss...and before it broke
Amigos
Epic Tug of War competition!!
Troop vs. Troop
And...Scoutmasters vs. Senior Patrol Leaders
After supper card game...
(I think they were playing Old Maid...)
(ok, probably not...)
Manly Scottish flags adorn our campsite
(the strip of fabric below the flag was "captured" from another troop)
